JymWrites: Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu Must Resign

It is one thing to try to make someone look like ‘he brushes his teeth with hair cream and applies toothpaste to his hair’ and another thing to come back to try and justify yourself with kindergarten logic that in fact, breaks the mind.

The majority leader of parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has been a member of parliament for Suame constituency since 1997 and has held several positions in the house; he chaired the Advisory Board on Water Restructuring at the Ministry of Work and Housing, he was a member of the Cocoa Processing Board for 8 years and most surprisingly, he is currently the Chairman of the African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption; and the Vice President for the Global Organisation of Parliamentarians against corruption.

Have you ever wondered why Ghana is not going forward as it should? Have you ever asked yourself why Africa, upon all the resources, we are still beseeching our colonial masters for alms? The answer is simple; we have some crop of politrickcians in the helms of affairs who are effortlessly leading this country backwards and Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu is one of them.

He has been in parliament for all these years, holding I believe vital roles and the country is still where it is, he has been a board member for the Cocoa Processing Board for 8 good years and there has not been even one innovative move to add value and increase our GDP. He is 61 years now, let me ask, will any good thing come out from Nazareth? If the Member of Parliament actually meant well for Ghana all these whiles he has been in the various offices, he would have resigned by now. But unfortunately we have politicians who are there for their comfort and have in our own way been giving the power to them for them to screw us and the truth is, they are not disappointing at all.

Why am I digging out all these?

I want you to understand the caliber of person Kyei Mensah-Bonsu is, the same person leading the charge or playing a vital role in emptying the public purse into building a new chamber. The remorse about this is that he actually came out to defend the building of a new chamber with kindergarten reasons that I am still struggling to believe that a whole member of parliament, a leader in parliament for that matter with the years in office could actually open his mouth on television and say what he said. I don’t really know how or where to start wrapping my head around this from, I mean!

He is not fit to be a leader in the first place and the  number of years he has spent in the various offices proves with genuineness that we have been voting him into parliament just to go and debate and waste tax payers’ money. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu is just one of many politicians who were voted into office based on sentiments, tribalism, favoritism and not that he deserves to be a leader on merits.

I hope he takes this in good faith and for the sake of the Ghana we all want to build, he will resign and make way for the right heads to move this country forward. Make way for people who are more proactive, economically sound, think divergently, have the nation at heart and can make judicious use of or manage the state coffers well.
